Three days in the meeting room

Hmm. I just finished tidy up my room and done with my laundry. It is a bit tiring after all day brainstorming and discussing. It was a good experience indeed. Actually, I have been assigned in this project to handle few packages. In simple words, these packages need to be reviewed technically and after a vendor has been selected, the package offered will be further analyzed and studied in structured and systematic examination in order to identify and evaluate the problems that may represent risks to personnel, business interruption or environmental concern. All of these issues need to be assessed by a team comprised of 3rd party consultant, client, operator, engineering contractor and vendor itself. This study has been done for three days and it was over this evening for one package! It started around 9 am in the morning and then break for the lunch at 12 pm (lunch is provided) and finished at 6 pm. Yes, for three days! It may sounds unexciting after a full day spent in the meeting room but anyway I have never regret about it. Seriously, a lot of new things that I have learnt during the meeting. Apart from technical issues theoretically, I got to know loads of onsite experience that will never be thought off. Before the meeting has started, we need to introduce ourselves and need to write our name on a piece of paper as the names of the team member will be placed in the final report – outcome of the meeting. I would give high credit to the chairman for his capability to lead the team efficiently. He is an American and he is very talkative and friendly guy. When everybody in the team looked sleepy or lack of ideas, he will come out with a joke where he always make fun about the presidential election in America recently and he will shared some of the stories of his background on teaching and working as an engineer. It is very interesting. And he is 63 years old already. Hehe. Anyway, it was a huge relief for me when the meeting was conducted in English. Moreover, the vendor is from Italy. Obviously, they didn’t understand French. Like myself. Hehe. The client and operator are from Belgium but they speak French very well and the engineering contractor is from France and I am working for this engineering company but I am from Malaysia :)
